Earlier this week Eddie lost his Mother, today's post is a silent prayer for he and his family during their time of sorrow.

Because of this the Office is closed today; our technicians and pool cleaning staff are in the field working. Please leave a message if calling the Office, we will return calls next week.

Mothers hold a special place in our hearts, may God give them peace in their hearts, embrace them with His love and give them strength as they grieve her loss.

Today is Veterans Day

In Honor of Veterans Day and our Veterans, here's a brief history about Veterans Day from Wikipedia website:

- The U.S. President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed an Armistice Day for November 11, 1919. In proclaiming the holiday, he said "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with lots of pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations."

- The United States Congress passed a concurrent resolution seven years later on June 4, 1926, requesting that the President (Calvin Coolidge) issue another proclamation to observe November 11 with appropriate ceremonies. An Act (52 Stat. 351; 5 U.S. Code, Sec. 87a) approved May 13, 1938, made the 11th of November in each year a legal holiday; "a day to be dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as 'Armistice Day'."

- In 1953, an Emporia, Kansas shoe store owner named Alfred King had the idea to expand Armistice Day to celebrate all veterans, not just those who served in World War I. King had been actively involved with the American War Dads during World War II. He began a campaign to turn Armistice Day into "All" Veterans Day. The Emporia Chamber of Commerce took up the cause after determining that 90% of Emporia merchants as well as the Board of Education supported closing their doors on November 11 to honor veterans. With the help of then-U.S. Rep. Ed Rees, also from Emporia, a bill for the holiday was pushed through Congress. President Dwight Eisenhower signed it into law on May 26, 1954.

- Congress amended this act on June 1, 1954, replacing "Armistice" with Veterans, and it has been known as Veterans Day since.

Please Don't Blame the Poolman

We have began receiving several messages from our customers about an increase in their water bills. In the past we have shared with you that most of your electric and water bills are not caused by your pool company alone. We would like to remind you at this time that there are several factors to take into consideration when you receive a higher than normal water or electric bill.

At times it's necessary for your lawn maintenance to use extra water for your landscape and plants that have needed additional water to maintain the top notch conditions you have come to expect. It's also a good idea to check the following to make sure there are no hidden problems causing a higher than normal water bill:

- Check your faucets to make sure they are functioning properly;
- Check your toilet flaps and replace them if you continually hear water running for longer periods after flushing;
- Don't keep filling your pool up when you notice a substantial decrease in your water level, you will have a higher water bill.

We are not responsible for water bill increases so please make sure you call us right away if you notice that your pool/spa water level is decreasing so we can schedule someone to check your pool for leaks. Not only will it save on your water bill, you could avoid future major repairs to your pool/spa.
