Please Don't Blame the Poolman
o Use the reverse switch on your ceiling fan and operate it at a lower speed
o Consider switching to electronic equipment with the Energy Star Label
o In cooler weather, keep curtains open during the daylight hours to take advantage of the sun to warm your home
- Check your faucets to make sure they are functioning properly
- Another incident involved an accident where a truck actually ran over a water meter
- Don’t keep filling your pool up when you notice a substantial decrease in your water level, you will have a higher water bill.
These are simple steps you can do to help save on your utilities, I hope you find them helpful!

As we continue towards Going Green, this month SCORE® Naples (Counselors to America’s Small Business) had an interesting article regarding the reduction ‘our paper consumption and to recycle what we do use back into the system. But what if we looked in the other direction for an answer? What if we didn’t make paper from trees?’ The article titled, The Forest For the Trees, is from the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary & Blair Audubon Center and was written by Amy Fleischer.
In our last post we offered you one month of free pool maintenance service with your paid purchase of a heat pump…that offer will expire on November 30th . Veterans Day
The history of Veterans has been observed since the end of World War I when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919. Fighting had ceased seven months earlier when a temporary cessation between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, for that reason, November 11, 1918 is generally regarded as the end of ‘the war to end all wars.’
October 8, 1954 President Eisenhower signed ‘A Proclamation 3071’ ‘…Now, Therefore, I, Dwight D. Eisenhower, President of the United States of America, do hereby call upon all of our citizens to observe Thursday, November 11, 1954, as Veterans Day. On that day let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom, and let us reconsecrate ourselves to the task of promoting an enduring peace so that their efforts shall not have been in vain.’ http://www1.va.gov/opa/vetsday/vetdayhistory.asp
We honor and thank each of you.
Respectfully, Eddie Irizarry

It’s that time of year when we start thinking about heat pumps. Are you ready for the cooler weather? Are you enjoying your warm pool? Click here for more details Jandy Heaters.
These heat pumps have the corrosion-free technology that are not affected by chemical imbalances and/or chlorine generators which in essence, avoids you to costly expenses of having to resurface your pool/spa due to rust damage caused by older heaters.

Every day we come across an article about how to go green. The Jandy Chlorine Generators are one way to do just that with your pool and spa. The AquaPure Water Purification System utilizes proprietary titanium plates, coated with precious metals, to convert salt to natural chlorine. It utilizes water softening technology to provide wonderfully smooth and gentle-on-the-skin water for swimming. Say goodbye to red, irritated eyes, itchy skin, green hair and even faded swimsuits. The AquaPure has an automatic self cleaning feature which ensures consistent operation and extends the life of the cell. Once the chlorine’s purification work is done, it automatically converts back to salt, to be used over and over again. It is a safe, economical, and environmentally friendly way of purifying your pool and spa. Click here for more information about this system Jandy Chlorine Generators and how you can transform your chlorine swimming pool water to a salt water swimming pool!
The Construction Industry is also finding ways to go green. I write Eddie’s e-Newsletters and Blogs for Eddie’s Pool Service, Inc.; as a Virtual Assistant I am a member of VACOC (Virtual Assistance Chamber of Commerce. In our Forum we discuss and share many issues and topics. This morning one of our members shared a link with us of how one company is using building materials and how they are economically produced using agricultural waste material. Do you know that our State tries to protect us in many ways? Do you know that Unlicensed professional activity is a crime in our State? Are you protected? Go to the tag links below to find out.
This is National Consumer Protection Week and the Department of Business and Professional Regulations is reminding us to protect ourselves. The following is a short copy of their Customer Service Spotlight article. Like to play Texas Hold'em? Me too!
While being back out in the field and meeting my customers, I have discovered that some of you like to play Texas Hold 'em; a game I truly love to play! My ultimate goal is to win a gold World Poker Tournament bracelet! I'm told 'practice makes perfect' so I practice at the Naples Ft. Myers Greyhound track in Bonita. I'd love to hear from any poker fans out there...drop me a line from here!
Want to know if someone is licensed?
There are many 'gypsies' in all fields of service. If you'd like to see who is licensed and who is not you can do this from the www.myflorida.com website. Simply click on the Licensee Search button. This takes you to the DBPR (Depart of Business & Professional Regulation) on-line services. By selecting the Construction Qualified Business section you can verify many types of licenses. You can verify their license by name, company name, license number and license type. We are constantly reminded by our government to hire licensed contractors to protect ourselves and our investments. Go ahead ... check it out!
I have also found the the DBPR weekly e-Newsletter, The Bottom Line, to contain valuable information in their Newsletter. You too can sign up to receive this e-Newsletter and stay on top of what's happening in your community!
Do you have a question or comment regarding licensed contractors? Ask me from here and I'll do my best to get an answer for you.
